Why Nexcem?

Nexcem ICFs create a heavy wall system that uses thermal mass to heat and cool the building naturally. This greatly reduces the need for large and costly heating and cooling systems and results in significant energy cost savings.

While most new homes in Canada have a lifespan of roughly 25 years, a Nexcem home is built to last for a century. This means you save on repairs and upkeep. Nexcem has a proven track record in resisting hurricane strength winds and tornados, and can withstand seismic activity up to a magnitude four. Virtually indestructible, Nexcem has even been used to build bomb proof structures.

Nexcem contains zero volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Typical new builds are composed of countless chemicals that off-gas from nearly every surface, trapping residents in a toxic bath. Nexcem has zero VOCs and it does not off-gas, allowing homeowners to rest assured that the structural core of their house isn’t actively harming their well-being.

Nexcem walls cannot be chewed through or eaten, protecting them from damage by insects or rodents.

​Nexcem’s engineering allows it to use less concrete than other ICF forms. Less concrete, no petroleum byproducts, and recycled materials means that Nexcem ICF has a carbon footprint lower than any other ICF product on the market today. Further, when building below grade, Nexcem foundations use less concrete than conventional concrete foundations. This makes it the most environmentally friendly product for any below grade application.

Nexcem does not burn or melt, protecting your home and your family in the case of a fire. It has a 4 hour fire rating, 0 smoke spread, 0 flame spread, and no black toxic fumes are created under fire.

Nexcem walls breathe. The ICF's cement bonded wood fibre material is capable of absorbing and releasing moisture as needed, moderating vapour and relative humidity levels, and improving indoor air quality and comfort. Nexcem is toxin free, does not off-gas, and is made from all natural recycled materials.

Nexcem's moisture resistant material creates an alkaline environment that inhibits mould growth, protecting the health of occupants. Nexcem walls will not rot or decay.
